Doggy Thingy

This blog is stuff about dogs, but it's only my favorite kinds. It varies from huge Saint Bernards to small Mini Schnauzers. It also includes Cairn Terriers, Airedale Terriers, and Irish Terriers. So I will post a new breed or something at least once a week...probably.

Saints

Saint Bernards make great pets and companions. They can be longhaired or they can be shorthaired Coats can also be either rough or smooth. The weight of the dog should be in proportion with the height. They would rather that it didn’t get too warm where they are. This breed loves to please its owners. These dogs are highly intelligent and easy to train. Saint Bernards are large, strong, muscular, and have strong heads. Saint Bernards will commonly get along with other dogs. Longhaired Saint Bernards are really a cross between Saint Bernards and Newfoundland dogs. Shorthaired Saints are usually purebred. Saint Bernards are very affectionate and they are average watchdogs. Another name for the Saint Bernard is the Alpine Mastiff. Saint Bernards are excellent with children.

Irish Terrier
This next dog is called an Irish Terrier. Irish Terriers are medium sized dogs with a rough-looking wiry fur with a very soft undercoat. You can see these dogs in many dog shows. The Irish Terrier is solid colored and may be red, golden, or wheaten. The front legs are usually long, muscular, and straight. The Irish Terrier usually makes a great friend for an active child. They are very intelligent. They are also ready for action and adventure. If it gets enough exercise outside, the Irish terrier will be very well-mannered and dignified. Irish Terriers are usually 25-27 pounds and they are usually about 18 inches in height. They live for 12-15 years. An Irish Terrier is a truly loyal and entertaining companion. The double coat is usually easy to groom and does not shed hair much. This kind of dog only needs to be bathed when necessary. An Irish Terrier is usually a loyal, sturdy guardian of family and of home. The Irish Terrier would be a great dog to play with because of the dogs’ love for retrieving and tracking. This dog would love to play fetch and this would be a great way to give him or her some more exercise. Now that you have seen another dog, you can start thinking of which may be your true favorite.

These are some Mini Schnauzers. They come in solid black, black and
silver, and salt and pepper. They are similar to the Standard Schnauzer. The only difference is that the Standard Schnauzer is a bit larger while it is still a rather small dog. There is also a Giant Schnauzer which is a bit larger than the Standard.

History of The Mini Schnauzer
We are not really sure where the roots of the Mini Schnauzer start, but we think that the black Poodle, the wolf-spitz and a rough coated German Terrier are breeds which may have played a part in their early development. These dogs may have produced such coloration and a personality. They were mostly used for herding, protecting the flocks as well as a watchdog. The Mini Schnauzer is only a smaller version of the original Schnauzers. Schnauzers come in three sizes. The sizes appear from smallest to largest as follows:
1. Mini Schnauzer
2. Standard Schnauzer
3. Giant Schnauzer
Even though some people claim to own a Toy Schnauzer, a Toy Schnauzer is not a real breed it is only a smaller Mini Schnauzer. A
Toy is usually less kind because of its smaller size.

Cairn Terriers

You may not think that the Cairn Terrier looks very soft, but even with its scruffy outer coat, it has a soft, downy undercoat. The coat comes in red, brindle, blackish, sand and various shades of gray. The Cairn Terrier is usually small, being about 14 inches long from the chest to start of the tail. It is also usually short. The Cairn Terrier is usually high spirited and pretty loyal. They are also very playful,
alert, merry, lovable, and mischievous. Males are usually more affectionate and females are usually more independent. They are naturally patient with children which is good especially when you invite over young children that may try to pull his tail or do something annoying. You can carry them if you have to because they weigh only 13-18 pounds. They are about 9-13
inches tall. When the Cairn Terrier becomes older it looks almost the same, but it is just a small bit bigger. The Cairn Terrier lives for about 12-15 years. You should brush the Cairn Terrier every once in a while or its fur will become an ugly, dirty, matted mess. Well, this dog is one of many choices, but many people find that they feel that is one of the cutest and most lovable
dogs.

The Airedale Terrier is a large terrier with a harsh wiry coat. The wiry outer coat is lined with a soft undercoat. The coat should be tan with black (or dark grizzle markings.) A bit of red in the black and/or a small white star on the chest appear. The legs (all the
way to the thigh), chest, undersides, head and
ears should be tan. Sometimes tan also extends up to the shoulders. The Airedale Terrier usually does pretty well with kids. They are usually loyal, pleasant, and intelligent. They are courageous and respectful. They are protective, sensitive, and responsive. Airedales will be happy to please you. They can also be obedience trained at a high level. An Airedale is extremely loyal. They are definitely not difficult to train. An Airedale is about 22-24 inches tall. They weigh 40-65 pounds and live for 10-12 years. Airedales have a short-haired, hard double coat. This is only one of many great dogs so keep searching.

It also includes Cairn Terriers, Airedale Terriers, and Irish Terriers. I posted this because as I looked online for a pet dog, found some cool stuff about dogs. So I will post a new breed or something at least once a week...probably. So check in every once in a while and learn new stuff.
